Online game Star Wars Galaxies set to close

Sony said the closure had come about because its contract to run the Star Wars game runs out in 2012, not because of declining player numbers.Sony has announced that its Star Wars Galaxies on-line game will be shut down on 15 December. The news was broken in e-mails sent to players and via messages posted on the game's support forums and website.

To be fair though, who really cares. Developing MMOs is pointless when World of Warcraft is still active with millions of users...

  10. I've heard some good things about this game awhile back, but I've never played it. A star wars MMO doesn't seem very appealing.

  11. It's pointless when developers are trying to directly compete with wow instead of taking the genre to the next level. who ever makes the next great mmo will have to do something new.

  17. Played SWG for a while.
I think they've closing SWG because of the eminent release of TOR. I personally can't wait for TOR because it offers so much more than WoW but then again SWG offered a lot too. It will be missed! :(
