Sony said the closure had come about because its contract to run the Star Wars game runs out in 2012, not because of declining player numbers.Sony has announced that its Star Wars Galaxies on-line game will be shut down on 15 December. The news was broken in e-mails sent to players and via messages posted on the game's support forums and website.
To be fair though, who really cares. Developing MMOs is pointless when World of Warcraft is still active with millions of users...
totally agree, nice blog bro!
ReplyDeleteI just hope SWTOR fares better.
ReplyDeletedamn Wow. other games have no chance.
ReplyDeletetry aruaROSE.
I think it's a pity.
ReplyDeletesucks for the players
ReplyDeletei didn't like that game so
ReplyDeletePretty good game back in the day, it had a solid run
ReplyDeleteI liked SWG =( 'Twas a good game until they tried to copy wow
ReplyDeleteIt was a good game..
ReplyDeletewhat a bummer, great post though
ReplyDeletetruly, more people loves axes than lightsabers :D
ReplyDeleteHrm, never tried the game.
ReplyDeleteI've heard some good things about this game awhile back, but I've never played it. A star wars MMO doesn't seem very appealing.
ReplyDeleteIt's pointless when developers are trying to directly compete with wow instead of taking the genre to the next level. who ever makes the next great mmo will have to do something new.
ReplyDeletei will give it a try, keep it up mate!
ReplyDeleteThat's true, nothing will ever compare with World of Warcraft
ReplyDeleteWe have WOW and (soon) TOR, so who gives a shit about post-NGE Galaxies?
ReplyDeleteGood Post & good Blog, keep it up!
ReplyDeletesimilar to the capcom situation?
ReplyDeletePlayed SWG for a while.
ReplyDeleteI think they've closing SWG because of the eminent release of TOR. I personally can't wait for TOR because it offers so much more than WoW but then again SWG offered a lot too. It will be missed! :(
I'm sure declining player numbers had nothing to do with it.
ReplyDeletewonder if someone will try and make it there own
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't go as far as to say pointless, not everybody enjoys Wow but still...
ReplyDeleteI've never played it! so i can't tell..
ReplyDeleteYea, WoW kinda killed all other mmos
